Gene Yau

Gene Yau is Head of Business Development for OPKO Health and ModeX Therapeutics, an OPKO Health Company, where he leads corporate strategy, licensing, and M&A initiatives to advance the ModeX portfolio and drive enterprise value creation through strategic partnerships and corporate development strategies.

Gene is a seasoned executive who brings over 20 years of experience building and scaling companies through value-defining strategy, partnering, and successful transaction execution. Over his career, he has led transactions totaling over $11 billion in aggregate deal value. Prior to joining OPKO, Gene served as Executive Director and Head of Corporate Development and Strategy at Nimbus Therapeutics, where he led multiple licensing and M&A transactions across its portfolio in immunology, oncology, and metabolic disease. He also held leadership roles at Blueprint Medicines, Astellas, Monsanto, Abbott, and William Blair, building a unique combination of scientific, financial, and strategic expertise across biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

Gene holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, an M.S. in Biotechnology from Northwestern University, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
